Sunday: LA Premier of I’m Just Like You – Children with Psoriasis

Do you know filmmaker and psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis sufferer Fred Finkelstein? Talk about the patients’ perspective… Fred walks the walk, talks the talk, and makes the movies to show us all what it’s really like.

Now is your chance to meet him at the Los Angeles premier of his new film,  I’m Just Like You – Children with Psoriasis. The film, which took nearly 4 years to make, is the first film to focus on the impact of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis on children and their families.

I'm Just Like You - Children with Psoriasis, new film from Fred Finkelstein and the Sparklestone Foundation

It’s the second film from Fred and the Sparklestone Foundation. Their first, My Skin’s On Fire, focused on the day-to-day realities of living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. It has the support of the National Psoriasis Foundation.

The event is Sunday, October 30th, at the Lionsgate Screening Room, with a screening of the film beginning at 3:00 PM, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.

There is a suggested donation of $10, but the invitation also says, “No one turned away for lack of funds.” There’s free street paring in front of the building and on Stewart St.

If you are planning on attending, there are only 48 seats available, so to reserve yours, please RSVP at 510 653-3868.

You can find out more about the film, and see a preview, here at the Sparklestone Foundation website.

Boston Walk to Cure Psoriasis this Saturday, Oct. 15th

Join Drug Market Info founder Mary Beth Cicero and walk to raise money for important Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) research

Many of you know that Mary Beth was on the Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) for many years and is still very much devoted to the cause. For the very first time, the National Psoriasis Foundation is sponsoring a Walk in Boston on Castle Island this Saturday, Oct 15th.

You may not know that Psoriasis is the most prevalent autoimmune disease, affecting as many as 7.5 million Americans and 125 million worldwide. Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) present a huge personal hardship on individuals and their families, yet research to determine the cause and develop a cure has frankly been lacking.

For this reason, the NPF is working to increase the number of dollars, scientists and research projects devoted to psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The Foundation’s research investment has increased from $250k/yr to almost $2 million/yr but more is needed.

That is why Mary Beth will be participating in the Boston Walk To Cure Psoriasis on Saturday October 15th. We hope that you will consider contributing to the walk for her team. Even better contribute AND come to the Walk—the weather has been so nice lately that a walk on Castle Island should be great!

It is easy to contribute at http://walk.psoriasis.org/goto/cicero. Just click and follow the simple instructions. Every donation helps!

Thanks in advance for your consideration and possible donation and we hope to see you on Saturday!
